HOME LEARNING... or homework?
This months theme for tech&teach is going to be a discussion and idea share about how we are using technology to enhance our students´ learning at home. Many of us already set homework tasks that encourage the students to use technology to complete the work. For example:
In addition to this, there are already departments and Key Stages that are using subscription websites to set prepared homework tasks or games. For example:
And finally on an another level, some Secondary Departments and teachers have created a Website that provides useful learning links for students. (Find examples here) Moreover, there have been teachers who have encouraged students to create their own websites, or make and edit their own films.
During last month´s tech&teach, Vincente Favard showed how he had used the website Padlet (see an example below) to provide his students with home learning resources. Furthermore, he used the same virtual learning spaces for the collection of homework... no pen drives need... and already collated for him to share with his class. This is an example of clever and smart use of tech... and this months tech&teach is about finding out more of these.
To help us prepare for the tech&teach session... if anyone wants to share what tech they are already using for home learning, then just click on the Padlet wall and leave a note, link or photo...
- Use the internet search engine to complete research.
- Type up their work onto a Word document or Powerpoint and bring it in on a pen drive or printed out.
