WEBSITES to make your life easier and your students learn more
'LOST IN A WAVE OF GIGAWIGGERBITES'
It is easy to get lost in the enormous number of websites available for educational use. It feels like tech designers have spent the last ten years attempting to out-smart their mate with a another new gimmick. As a consequence, us users are often left chasing our tails not knowing which website is best; which is free to use; which is secure; and God forbid you find yourself in a conversation with a tech enthusiast who will turn a simple chat into a debate about which website has more gigawiggerbites etc.
EASY LIFE... NO MORE PEN DRIVES
There are some really useful websites around which you can create very simple projects for your students and make life so much easier for you.The following websites all allow the teacher to create a class-list and student log ins. From these class-lists you are able to monitor and mark student work and provide effective learning feedback. In addition, these websites allow student work to be saved all in one hub. Therefore, when you want to show it in class, you are no longer fiddling around with pen drives, wasting valuable lesson time.
ENTHUSIASTIC AND MOTIVATED LEARNERS
My last point before I provide links to websites: your students will enjoy using these websites. They are easy to use and dynamic. They are smart; they allow your students to complete work on laptops, ipads and phones. Anywhere, anytime, thus breaking the tradition learning model.

EDMODO
So much scaremongering about this website. In reality to it a very simple site that allows you set and collect homework directly to your students, and if you want, their parents.
THE BASICS -
1. Create and account and class code.
Set up an account. Then create your classes. Printout a student class invite code. Get the students to join your class by imputing the class code and setting up a username. The students will then appear in your class.
2. Set your class an assignment
Simple to do. Click on a class and click on Assignment. Follow the obvious steps and set a deadline... attach some resources or links... then wait for the work to arrive. Check it off... maybe provide positive feedback... even give an award..
3. Push the boat out
Once you are a user of Edmodo you might as well connect to other teachers. You also might like to down load some fully integrated apps... which will transfer your class-list to their interface... this saves time and brings everything into one simple hub.

CLASS-CODE HUB
Once again students log into the site via a class-code and join your class. You can then set them assignments and receive their work into one easy to present location.
